July 27: Crags

Day three was our first full day on the trail. We started by backtracking to Abreu, which is a staffed camp illustrating farm life in the early 20th century. Highlights of this camp include the cantina (a.k.a. the Rootbeer Factory), milking the goats, and making adobe bricks. Afterwards we made the hike from Old Abreu to Crags. Despite some navigational errors that sent us down the wrong trail two times before noon, we managed to make camp reasonably early. Unfortunately, on the way into camp Vee fell off a single-log bridge. Vee, Steve, and Marie ended up pretty well soaked and Vee's camera went for a swim, but those are sorts of things you have to overcome on the trail. Oh, it rained.
