2008 Philmont Shakedown Hike

On June 6-8 a number of scouts and leaders bound for Philmont this summer attended a shakedown trip hosted by Troop 248. We made camp late on the 6th at the dispersed camping area at the start of the Money Brook Trail. On Saturday we got onto the trail at 7:30 AM. We ascended Greylock via the Hopper trail and arrived at the sumit around noon. After lunch we continued north along the ridge, traversing the summits of Mount Fitch and Mount Williams, then descended and made camp at Wilbur's Clearing at about 4:30. On Sunday we slep just a hair longer, leaving camp at 8:00 and descending via the Money Brook trail. We reached the parking area at about 10:00. The trip home featured a memorable lunch at Friendly's.
